Product Details Introduction

The Extreme Networks VIM3-40G4X port module is a high-speed expansion module designed specifically for Extreme mid to high end switches. The core configuration consists of four 40GbE QSFP+ports, focusing on ultra high speed data transmission and adapting to the high bandwidth link requirements of large network core layers and data center aggregation layers.

Four 40GbE QSFP+ports all support line speed forwarding, with a single port bandwidth of up to 40Gbps, making it easy to support server cluster interconnection and backbone link transmission between core switches in ultra large scale data centers, solving the bandwidth bottleneck problem of traditional 10GbE ports.

Compatible with multiple types of QSFP+optical modules, whether it is multimode fiber optic modules (suitable for short distance interconnection in data centers, such as within 100 meters) or single-mode fiber optic modules (suitable for long-distance cross data center/building interconnection, such as over 10 kilometers), they can be flexibly matched to meet different networking distance requirements.

As a factory specific module for Extreme, it is deeply compatible with the ExtremeXOS operating system and X-series high-end switches (such as X590, Summit X770, etc.), and can be automatically recognized by devices after insertion, without the need for complex compatibility debugging. It quickly enables 40GbE port functionality and simplifies deployment processes.

Support port splitting function (such as QSFP+to 4x SFP+), which can split one 40GbE port into four 10GbE ports for use, flexibly adapting to the access needs of existing 10GbE devices, achieving flexible conversion between 40GbE and 10GbE ports, and improving module cost-effectiveness.

Adopting a non blocking hardware forwarding design, the internal forwarding bandwidth of the module fully matches the total bandwidth requirements of the four 40GbE ports, with no risk of traffic congestion, ensuring low latency and packet loss free transmission of high-speed services such as big data transmission, cloud platform virtualization services, and high-definition video streaming.

Support Link Aggregation (LACP) function, which can bind multiple 40GbE ports of the module as logical links, greatly improving the connection bandwidth with core devices and server clusters, while achieving link redundancy. When a single link fails, it automatically switches to ensure uninterrupted business.
