Extreme Networks X870-32C Base is positioned as a high-end basic core switch, with a core configuration of 32 25GbE SFP28 high-speed ports. It focuses on "high-density high-speed access+minimalist deployment" and is suitable for the basic high bandwidth networking needs of medium-sized data centers and large campus network core layers.

All 32 25GbE SFP28 ports support line speed forwarding, with a single port bandwidth of up to 25Gbps. The total bandwidth can easily support high-speed access to server clusters and 10G wireless AP arrays. Compared to traditional 10GbE core switches, the single port bandwidth is increased by 2.5 times, making it suitable for bandwidth intensive services such as AI inference and high-definition video streaming.

As the basic model of the X870 series, it retains core expansion capabilities and reserves 2 40GbE QSFP+upstream ports on the body. It can achieve 40G high-speed interconnection with the ultra core switch through multi-mode/single-mode optical modules, avoiding the upstream bandwidth bottleneck when 32 25GbE ports are concurrent.

Deeply adapted to the ExtremeXOS basic version operating system, focusing on the stability of core forwarding functions, supporting basic protocols such as VLAN partitioning, LACP link aggregation, RSTP/MSTP spanning trees, and compatible with ExtremeCloud IQ basic monitoring functions to meet the management needs of small and medium-sized core networks.

Adopting a non blocking hardware architecture, the backplane bandwidth reaches 1.28Tbps, the packet forwarding rate is 960Mpps, fully matching the full load line speed forwarding requirements of 32 × 25GbE+2 × 40GbE ports, and the data transmission delay is controlled at the microsecond level to ensure low latency response for business.

Flexible port compatibility, the 25GbE SFP28 port is backward compatible with 10GbE SFP+modules, allowing for seamless integration with existing 10GbE servers and storage devices without the need to replace ports, helping enterprises smoothly transition to 25G networks and protect existing hardware investments.

The hardware design balances reliability and practicality, adopting a 1RU rack mounted structure, equipped with dual redundant fans (supporting hot swapping) and a single power supply (optional redundant power module), supporting 7 × 24-hour uninterrupted operation, and suitable for high availability scenarios in the data center.

Integrated basic security protection system, supporting 802.1X identity authentication, MAC address binding, port security, and ACL access control list, can filter illegal traffic, prevent unauthorized device access, and build a solid foundation of security defense for the core network.
